Appliance rules around Northwest Arkansas
Appliances are where city pickups get picky, mostly because of refrigerant. Here’s what the official pages say.
- Fayetteville: Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and water coolers carry a Freon recovery fee for each unit, whether you drop them off or schedule a curbside pickup.
- Rogers: GFL’s bulk pickup takes common household appliances only if they’re non-Freon. Refrigerators and microwaves are on its not-accepted list.
- Springdale: The bulky pickup takes white goods like stoves, water heaters, washers and dryers, but Freon has to be removed by a licensed professional first, with documentation.
- Bella Vista: Republic’s weekly large-item pickup doesn’t take appliances. The city runs two appliance pickups a year, typically the second week of April and October, with pre-registration.
- Benton County: The District’s special-waste drop-off sites take appliances. Fees and material limits apply.

Do you take refrigerators with the doors still on?
Yes. Leave it as-is — we handle refrigerators, freezers and A/C units, and route their refrigerant to proper disposal.
Can you get an appliance out of the basement or upstairs?
Yes. Getting heavy appliances up or down stairs is part of the job. Just show us the path in your photo.
Do I need to disconnect the washer or water heater?
If it is safely disconnected already, great. If not, tell us when you text — we will let you know what we can handle.
Do I need the Freon removed before you take a fridge?
No. Leave it as it is. We haul refrigerators, freezers and A/C units and route the refrigerant units to proper recycling. Some city programs, like Springdale’s, require removal by a licensed professional first; we don’t.
